Pendle Paddlers

Windermere Camp - July 2014

The weather forecast for the weekend wasn't looking good, but that didn't stop us as we are quite used to getting wet. However, apart from Saturday afternoon where we had a few downpours in between some dry spells, we had a great dry and sunny weekend!

There was about 15 of us mainly in canoes but a few in kayaks. On Saturday we paddled from Low Wray down to a small island near Belle Isle where we had lunch, then across to Ferry Nab for ice cream, then paddled back to Low Wray.

Saturday night, after tea we sat round Ian's fire again. Nigel got his Boule set out to keep us occupied. Before toasting marshmallows and well earned refreshments over the fire.

Sunday was hot and sunny so after paccking away all the tents we set off for the river Rothay where we paddled up as far as the play wave and messed around before having lunch on the side of the river. After lunch we paddled to Waterhead for more ice cream before paddling back to Low Wray.

A good time all round. Can't wait for the next one at Ullswater in August
